Hi, I'm Marty Steinert, and I was born and raised in Great Bend, Kansas. I graduated from Great Bend High School in 1976, and my most cherished accomplishment was winning the class 4A state track championship in the 120-yard high hurdles. After that, I attended Barton College on a track and field scholarship to compete in the high hurdles and the pole vault. I also studied broadcast journalism, which led to working as a DJ on the college radio station.
My auto career in auto sales began in 1982 with Dove Buick, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac in Great Bend as a new and pre-owned sales consultant. Mr. Dove and his son, Rob, became my mentors, helping grow my customer base. Mr. Dove once told me, "We are not in the car business; we are in the people business; therefore, always conduct yourself with high integrity to build trust with your customers." I took this advice to heart, and throughout my 34-year career with Dove, I sold over 5,200 vehicles and developed a strong repeat and referral business.
When Mr. Dove passed away in 2003, his son, Rob, continued the legacy at the dealership. In 2008, Rob purchased the Chevrolet franchise, which added Silverado trucks and enabled me to expand my customer base significantly. As proof of my commitment to customers, I became a member of the Buick Sales Master Club in 1982, the Cadillac Crest Club in 1983, the Oldsmobile Vanguard Club in 1983, and have achieved Certified Top Performer in the GM Mark of Excellence Program every year since 2008.
I retired from Dove Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac at the end of 2016 to move to Topeka, Kansas, so my wife, Kim, and I could be closer to our kids and grandkids. Kim retired from a 14-year career with the KBI and is now the assistant office manager at Farley Elementary School. We enjoy spending time with our kids' families, especially our three grandkids, Miley, Micah, and Callan. I also enjoy playing golf with my "Band of Brothers," Brett, Warren, and Josh.
In April 2018, I decided selling cars was still in me, so I joined the sales staff at Ed Bozarth Chevrolet #1 Buick, GMC. In 2019, Mr. Bozarth acquired the Cadillac franchise, which was an excellent fit for me due to my years of experience selling Cadillacs with the Dove organization. In December 2021, Mr. Bozarth sold the dealership to the Cable Dahmer Auto Group. I have embraced the opportunity to grow even more with everything Mr. Ledesma brings through Cable Dahmer!
I enjoy building rapport with coworkers and sales clients. I believe in generational sales and often say, "If you sincerely care about your coworkers and clients, they will trust you with all their vehicle needs, and they will refer their friends and families to you for their vehicle needs as well." I have also enjoyed a career as a registered basketball official since 1993 with the Kansas State High School Activities Association. I have officiated high school varsity girls' and boys' basketball and have been blessed to officiate 11 regional, 26 substates, and 11 state postseason basketball tournaments for the KSHSAA.
Since 2012, I have been a Great Bend Noon Lions Club member. It feels incredible to remain a "member at large" of this club and support their service efforts of supporting local school children needing eyewear. The club also supports local community beautification by planting trees in historical areas.
